The Colonel
My cable provider is switching from McAfee to Norton. Norton used to be a system hog, but I must say I am impressed with the newest incarnation. Except for one thing - it's too damn efficient in deleting cookies. Below is the short back and forth between their tech support and me. Boring stuff, but mildly amusing if you're already bored. I solved my own program but left the chat window up to see what the fuck he was doing...to think they even escalated my issue before talking to me...

Your Problem : Norton is deleting cookies used to store Firefox Most Visted function, and auto login to websites

Mr. Me: i thought you had it already and were researching it
Mr. Me: Norton is deleting cookies used to store Firefox Most Visted function, and auto login to websites
Arnulfo: Okay.
Mr. Me: websites that require UID and PW to login were autosaved. those cookies were deleted. when I tried to implement the stored logins again they were deleted within 20 minutes

Mr. Me: I'm not running an executable from you
Mr. Me: this is nothing you have to come into my system for
Arnulfo: Okay.
Mr. Me: do you know how to fix this or not?
Arnulfo: Okay. Let me try that.
Arnulfo: Open your Norton security suite and click task
Arnulfo: What do you see in the window?

Mr. Me: I am there
Mr. Me: I am in the Tasks window, continue
Arnulfo: Tell me what options do you see.
Mr. Me: The headings say General, Backup and PC Tuneup Tasks

Mr. Me: CPU usage
Mr. Me: do you not have screen shots of your own product to follow through on?
Arnulfo: Sir, if you could allow me to remotely access you I'll only navigate your Norton product nothing less nothing more.
Mr. Me: I have a pretty straight forward question.
Mr. Me: And I have provided adequate information to complete the task.
Arnulfo: Okay. It's not the Norton problem its your firefox have you check the properties of your browser?
Mr. Me: It is Norton.
Mr. Me: This has never happened until I installed Norton.
Arnulfo: Okay.
Mr. Me: I am 100% certain it is Norton.
Arnulfo: Okay.
Mr. Me: Do you know how to exclude certain files from being scanned/deleted?
Arnulfo: You say every 20 min. the cookies and being deleted by Norton?
Mr. Me: I found it on my own. Do you want to know the answer for next time?
Mr. Me: It is under Adminstrative Settings, you have to uncheck "Firefox Privacy Cleanup"
Mr. Me: Administrative Settings>Tuneup>Firefox Privacy Cleanup on the off position
Arnulfo: Okay. Can you give me Mr. Me a minute or 2 please.
Arnulfo: Oh.ok

Mr. Me: sure...
Mr. Me: the issue is resolved though, I kept looking on my own and found it.
