Hi. My name is Puzzy and I started writing for this site on March 22, 2008.
I thought I'd take this opportunity and clue you in on what it is like to write for the front page. I know that there are a lot of you out there that probably write on your own for other sites or even for your personal sites. Do people still use LiveJournal or have we become a micro-blogging Tweet infested society?
Anyhow, if you look at the front page forum you'll see that it has changed over the years. You've had many, many people post in this space. There was Justin's fubar era, the whole...uh...'magazine' phase that petered out, and badbart's reign. It has been, for the most part, a mirror of the rest of the board, covering many different topics by several different people.
For better or worse, Father Ted gave me the keys to the station wagon and let me drive. And what do I decide to start with? Boobs? Girl on girl drunken fight? Something about Paris Hilton or L. Lohan? No, I started with a nice, simple G.I. Joe post
When I took over posting I envisioned a place that contained a lot of interesting material that people could read and experience things via their friends on the boards. I was happy for others to contribute. I truly wanted others to contribute and provide a different perspective other than mine. From one of the super secret forums hidden away from the normal users:

I'm not going to treat the front page like I treat my personal site, designkitty. However, I am also not someone to gratuitously post boobies. I'll leave that to those of you who do it successfully. For those of you who remember my posts on DET, that's similar to what I'll be gunning for. Why? Because it amuses me. If it amuses me, I hope that it amuses others just as much. For the most part, nothing is out of bounds.
...If you have something to contribute then by all means let me know. I'm a big fan of gadgets, weird entertainment news, women, oddities, news that causes people to sit and debate, sports. I hope to cover some of those topics over the course of my imprisonment. And if something sucks or bombs, then let me know.

With very few exceptions I posted alone. I felt like the only kid at the playground standing on the baseball diamond waiting for other kids to play with me. Uh, to play baseball with me.
For the most part, posting to the front page is an exercise in frustration. Because of my sleeping habits and my propensity to read almost everything under the sun I am constantly on the lookout for items that try to fulfill at least five criteria
- items that interest me
- news & stories that might interest you and get you, the reader, to participate
- items that do not impose my religous or political beliefs on you
- things you may not have seen or heard of before
- items that might raise the profile of this site
An example of this would be Chindogu. Oh, how I would laugh and laugh at those silly inventions! Who wouldn't want a ramen hair protector?
I'll normally go to bed around midnight or 1am, falling asleep after reading and scouring news sites. I'm normally awake again between 3:30 and 4am. I'll hit sites like reddit, digg, LiveLeak, stumbleupon, I don't Like You In That Way, Hollywood Tuna, Reuters, the AP, SkyNews...the list goes on and on and on. They say that only 5-6% of internet users know how to use RSS feeds. Count me in. I'm constantly on the lookout for new items that tickle my fancy.
Originally, I would try to post at least three times a week, Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Then I had the idea to take the easy way out and create the Friday Versus. That 'easy way' out turned out to be a little more difficult because I tried to choose things which weren't your typical 'versus' fights. And then I had to explain and put in editorial...which required me to think.
Here's a little secret about those of us who post to the front page: we attribute the success of our posts to the number of replies or number of times read.
My posts were written pretty much the way I speak. Those of you who've met me can testify to this. Normally I'll be smiling or smirking, ready to pounce with a bad joke, one liner or pun. I tried to write as if we were having a conversation. You would be sitting next to me at Grant's Bar at Old Ebbit Grill enjoying a nice pint and listen to me spout some nonsense (and noticing that I had a pint of beer, two fingers of Maker's Mark and an 18 year old Macallan in front of me. What? If I'm sitting with you I need something to numb my brain
That year seems to pass by quickly, doesn't it? I joined TJNR in October, 2004. That seems to have zoomed on by without me noticing it as well. I remember the fun times and interesting times that I'm closely associated with over the years: signature creation, anime discussion, photoshop battles, Scrabulous tournaments, doling out prizes for competitions. There were times when the board would go one direction and I would immediately try and extricate myself from the goings on so that I would remain as neutral as possible.
Times have changed. People have changed. I've changed.
With this little bit of insight into how I posted, I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of you who have put up with me for the last year; the past four and a half years for that matter. But, as they say, all good things must come to an end. With that, I do my best Mary Tyler Moore impersonation, look back into the office and turn off the lights.
Ok, I couldn't find that last clip yesterday so instead I'll leave you with these endings:
