Nemesis
Eddie Murphy could return for a fourth ‘Beverly Hills Cop’ movie.

Producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura is keen to jumpstart the franchise 13 years
after ‘Beverly Hills Cop III’ was released, with Murphy returning as
wisecracking cop Axel Foley.

But Lorenzo is not prepared to bow to censors to get the picture made.

He said: “I want it to be rated R. I think it’s going to be a really
interesting debate. But that’s what I want. The studio says their research
is telling them PG. I won’t do it if it’s PG.”

The original movies - all rated R - contained excessive gun battles and
liberal use of sexual swear words.

Recent action sequel ‘Die Hard 4.0’ was criticized earlier this month when
it was edited to a PG-13 rating.

The original ‘Beverly Hills Cop’ was released in 1984 and catapulted Murphy
to international stardom.

The first three films brought in more than $700 million in worldwide box
office.

I hope this works I love Beverly Hills Cop and I'm sure Judge Rihnold could use the work.

Not money wise I'm pretty sure the dude is loaded unless he sniffed up all his cash but if he ever wants to do other things than the Santa Clause.

Does this come out December 21, 2012?

Apparently Bret Ratner wants to do this flick and make the PG-13 tragedy Nemesis described almost a year ago.

Beverly Hills Cop 4 to be a PG-rated kiddie flick!?
Date : June 4, 2008 Writer : "Caffeinated" Clint Morris ShareThis

If you thought what Len Wiseman did to the ‘’Die Hard’’ series was unforgivable, or still harbour strong feelings over that ‘’Crystal Skull’’ flick, get this: Brett Ratner wants to make “Beverly Hills Cop 4” a PG-rated kid’s movie!

Yes, Axel Foley has just been clipped.

Ratner, who single-handedly destroyed the “X-Men” movie series with his lacklustre “Last Stand” sequel, tells MTV that the new “Beverly Hills Cop 4”, which will film sometime next year, will more in the vein of a “Daddy Day Care” or “Doctor Dolittle” than Martin Brest’s classic 1984 adult actioner.

10-year-old kids, 12-year-old kids don’t really know the old ‘Beverly Hills Cop.’ So it’s an opportunity to make it new for kids,” Ratner said. “The same way it felt for me watching ‘Beverly Hills Cop’ when I was a kid, that’s what I want to do for kids today.”

The foul-mouthed Detroit Police Officer at least still swore – and shot bad guys – in the ill-fated “Beverly Hills Cop 3”, in this new film, Ratner won’t just outlaw cussing, he’ll be making sure the action’s no more violent than something you’d find in a Dick Tracy cartoon.

Note to Paramount: PLEASE! Please don’t let this happen. “Cop 4” MUST be an R-rated, no-holds-barred action/comedy that at least tries to give us ‘the old Eddie’ – if it doesn’t encompass more ‘fucks’ than a Whorehouse, it ain’t worth a dime. For once, consider the ‘fans’ and not some pimply-faced bubble-gum chewing ‘potential fan’.

Brett Ratner is connected to the movie?

I am preparing for the epic fail that this movie shall be. To tone down Axel to a pg TBS-ified version will just make the movie lose all of the crude charm of the first 2 movies....and kinda the 3rd.

Also Ratner can't make a good movie if his life depended on him. I still resent him for ruining what Bryan Singer had created so masterfully.

You can't blame him for the movie sucking. Thats like me blaming Tim Burton for Batman & Robin, or Richard Donner for Superman 4. They weren't a part of the movie, so their lack of involvement isn't a go ahead for another director to make a piece of shit.

I liked Superman Returns anyways. I liked it a lot. I would have loved to see him kick Darkseid's head in, but that might come in the next film. Who knows, you always need that movie to set things up.The sequel is always the better film, with the 3rd being disappointing.
