As the popularity of the music thread for linked albums has been spectacular, we have had requests to do something similar for audiobooks. Audiobooks are basically an MP3 file of a book. Great for long trips.

Request them, post them, listen to them.

Since I'm still an audiobook virgin, I'll start us off with a request.

Can anyone get this one?

Don't have that one, but I'll start the contributions off with a few fiction titles...

Max Brooks - World War Z: An Oral History of The Zombie War [2006]
(IMG:http://www.simplyaudiobooks.com/images/covers/large/0739340131.jpg)
Part 1
Part 2
Part 3
Part 4
Part 5

Stephen King - Cell [2006]
(IMG:http://ec1.images-amazon.com/images/I/5107E81E8NL._AA240_.jpg)
http://rapidshare.com/files/52095028/Cell.zip
(iTunes file, not mp3)

Stephen King - The Mist (In 3D Sound) [1984]
(IMG:http://ec1.images-amazon.com/images/I/51IBNx8XR9L._AA240_.jpg)
http://rapidshare.com/files/5606390/Stephe..._-_The_Mist.mp3

Edit: I liberated these particular ones from the web, but I am one of those people stupid enough to have bought a bunch of audiobooks so I have a large collection I can convert when I get the time.

I say Ebooks go in a seperate thread.

BTW, Demonoid is the best private tracker I've found for audiobooks. I'll repost some of them here, later.

I would love someone forever if they could find House of Leaves or Only Revolutions, especially since I'm going to a book signing for Only Revolutions on Monday and I feel like a cheater since I haven't read it yet...

The author might help... they're both by Mark Z. Danielewski.

I don't. Sorry... I'm sure some of the requests will be taken care of as more people learn this thread exists.

So then you've got them, right?

I've already read all of her books. This request is not for me.

Um i have a feeling that audio books are gonna be hard to come across unless they are posted on sendspace, rapidshare, etc already.

Im looking at a torrent right now for The Vampire Lestat and it is 477mb and the whole Vampire Chronicles is 3.85 GB. Those are gonna be tough to download then reupload elsewhere.

With filesizes that big I would be unable to fill them unless I can find them already hosted.

FAUST, thanks for trying!

Now for my "I'm a stupid girl" question. I downloaded The Cell from the rapidshare link Dean posted. I unzipped the file, but when I open the folders, I see files with an "AA" extension. I have no clue whatsoever how to make these files work!

HELP?

Both of them are the kind of books you really need to discover in book form, it's the whole experience of flipping through pages, flipping back, turning your book upside down and whatnot. I doubt they'll ever come out as audiobooks, it's definitely no Harry Potter.

All 12 radio episodes are linked right here, they're pretty much the book.
